Shadow Rock Center

Dekalb County Schools

Administration

Greetings to you for the school year 2023-2024

Welcome Back 23-24.pdf

Greetings,

My name is Carlton E. Vivians and I am honored to serve as your new Coordinator IIIl of Shadow Rock Center where it’s all about the children. I am a product of the Jackson County School District in Mississippi where I graduated from Moss Point High School. After graduation from high school, I attended Rust College and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. I then moved to Marietta, GA and began working in the mental health field. Afterwards, I began working in the DeKalb County school system where I served as a paraprofessional and later became a highly qualified special education teacher. I later attended Walden University (Master’s in Education with emphasis on students with emotional behavior disorder), Cambridge College (Specialist with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction), and University of West Georgia (Leadership). Working with the special education students proved to be my gift and I have loved it ever since. I served DeKalb County as a paraprofessional, teacher, department chair, and a Lead Teacher for Special Education before I journeyed out to a different district. I then served as a Lead Teacher for Compliance in Rockdale County for four years before returning to DeKalb County as an administrator for Shadow Rock Center.

I consider myself to be a transformational leader and a scholar practitioner who’s always searching for new and innovative ideas that will make learning fun for students, parents, and staff. I am an advocate who’s adamant about communication between schools, parents, communities, and most importantly, the children. I stress the importance of growth amongst all in education as there is no ceiling to learning and improving. I am looking forward to joining this great team and meeting our great parents and students along with community members and partners as we strive to continue to grow our children socially-emotionally, academically, and mentally. I am confident that each of our students will GROW through it as they GO through it and will go on to become productive members of society, making a difference wherever they may go.

Let’s have a great year together!!!!!!!!

It is an honor to serve as your new Director of GNETS. Our program is home for me, and it has been a wonderful experience to return with our staff and students. Prior to returning to Dekalb County School District, I served as the Principal of EXCEL Academy in Henry County.

I am also a product of Dekalb County School District as a graduate of Stone Mountain High School. I look forward to working with and for you this school year to ensure our students meet their educational goals in order to prepare for Post-Secondary/Vocational Education and beyond.

Educationally yours,
